Small Commercial Vessel Certificate

In February, Arkwright underwent a full out-of-water inspection from our MCA Certifying Authority the YDSA. This is a five-yearly inspection undertaken in compliance with the MCA Small Commercial Vessel Code of Practice.

To prepare for this, City of Portsmouth Unit volunteers put in over 300 hours of work over a two week period with tasks including mounting a windlass, resin-casting a new tiller flat plate and replacing the cutlass bearing. Our many other tasks ranged from anti-fouling to replacing anodes and painting.

The work was a great opportunity for volunteers to learn more about the vessel and to utilise the many skills that members brought to the task.

Our certificate was awarded on the 13th February 2020.
